Valravn is a black, semisolid colourway with a deep green undertone (similar to rooster feathers).
In Danish folklore, a valravn (Danish: raven of the slain) is a supernatural raven. Those ravens appear in traditional Danish folksongs, where they are described as originating from ravens who consume the bodies of the dead on the battlefield, as capable of turning into the form of a knight after consuming the heart of a child, and, alternately, as half-wolf and half-raven creatures.
On one account, a valravn is described as a peaceless soul in search of redemption that flies by night (but never day) and can only free itself from its animal countenance by consuming the blood of a child. This is reflected in a Danish traditional song that describes how, after refusing offers of riches, the Valravn makes an agreement with a maiden to take her to her betrothed after she promises the valravn her first born son. After the agreement, the valravn flies away. In time, the couple have a child and the Valravn returns, and asks the maiden if she has forgotten her promise. The valravn takes the child away, and tears into the chest of his won wager and consumes the blood contained within the child's heart. As a result, the valravn transforms into a knight.

Llamia is a luxury, dreamy soft guest yarn base with a beautiful drape. The fibre behaves similarly to alpaca, and has a gentle halo. The natural grey base gives the colourways a rich, sophisticated look. As opposed to sheep or alpaca, llama fiber is hollow, water-resistant and keeps warmth extremely well. It doesn’t contain lanolin, and llamas naturally produce minimal dander, which makes their wool hypoallergenic and thus very well suited for sensitive skin. The knitted fabric is soft and airy, and we find that it keeps shape better than alpaca typically does. Despite the softness, it’s strong and durable. Llamia lends itself wonderfully to shawls, snuggly sweaters and other garments.
Llamia is named after Lamia, a child-eating monster and, in later tradition, a type of night-haunting spirit or "daimon". The Lamia has been ascribed serpentine qualities, which some commentators believe can be firmly traced to mythology from antiquity; they have found analogues in ancient texts that could be designated as lamiai, which are part-snake beings. These include the half-woman, half-snake beasts. The lamiai also became a type of phantom, who seduced young men to satisfy their sexual appetite and fed on their flesh afterward.

When purchasing hand-dyed yarn, we recommend buying enough for your entire project.
Our yarn is handmade in small batches. While we follow precise recipes for repeatable colorways and carefully measure our materials, slight variations between skeins are inevitable. No two skeins will ever be identical, as is the nature of handcrafted products.
We take new photos for each dye lot, so images on our website may differ from skeins you’ve purchased in previous batches.
For a more uniform appearance in knitting, crochet, or weaving, alternate skeins every few rows.
We ensure all dyes are fully exhausted before rinsing our yarn. However, mild color bleeding can still occur, especially with bright, dark, or speckled skeins. To prevent unexpected color transfer, rinse your skein in cold water with wool wash and let it dry before starting your project.
